Dr Sergio Olate, DDS, PhD

Dr. Sergio Olate graduated in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Implant Dentistry and Facial Surgery. He obtained the MSc, PhD and Posdoctoral Fellowship in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Brazil) and is Diplomate of the Latinoamerican Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He serve as Fellow Research at the European Face Centre (Belgium). 

He has clinical expertise in Facial Trauma, Orthognathic Surgery, Facial Cosmetic Surgery, TMJ Surgery and Dental Implant Surgery. The main focus on his research is related to animal models, biomechanical tests and 3D analysis with focus in biomaterials and bone repair, facial deformities, surgical techniques and clinical models for surgery treatment in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Dr. Olate is Associated Professor and Head at Division of Oral, Facial and Maxillofacial Surgery, Professor at Center for Research in Surgery and Morphology (CEMyQ) and Director of the 3D Oro-Facial Lab at Universidad de La Frontera (Chile); Dr. Olate is also Senior Consultant at the Hospital de Lautaro and Hospital Regional in Temuco (Chile).

Dr. Olate has published nearly 200 scientific paper and has been involved in more than 10 research projects.
